Smoke from the Tamarack, Dixie, Fly and Bootleg wildfires will
continue to bring hazy skies along with poor air quality to the
region. The worst conditions remain immediately downwind of fires.
This includes, but is not limited to:

- Lake Almanor into Susanville and the Honey Lake Basin
- Carson City, Carson Valley, and Washoe Valley
- Far northern California and Nevada near the Oregon Border

Visibility reductions below 3 miles have occurred over the past
few days and many air quality reports were in the unhealthy to
hazardous categories.

Lighter winds today and Saturday will result in worsening smoke
and haze, along with a downward trend in air quality for the
weekend. Our typically breezy west winds will be absent today and
tomorrow, so our late afternoon clearing of haze and smoke most
likely will not occur. A wind shift overnight will also result in
air quality impacts since the smoke plumes from fires in Plumas
County (Dixie and Fly fires) will be directed towards western
Nevada and the Tahoe Basin.

If you happen to be in an area with poor air quality, try to
limit outdoor activity as much as possible. For the latest air
quality information, please visit or check with
your county air quality division.
