...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM EDT WEDNESDAY...

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northern New York, central
Vermont and northwest Vermont.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

Air Quality Alerts are in effect across much of the region,
excluding Rutland and Windsor Counties in south central Vermont,
until midnight tonight. Sensitive groups should take appropriate
precautions.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

   Heat Advisory.

Heat and humidity will peak Wednesday and Thursday, with heat index
values reaching into the low to mid 90s. A Heat Advisory is in
effect from noon to 8 PM Wednesday. Please follow heat safety
precautions, especially if you have to be outdoors.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 97 expected.

* WHERE...In New York, Eastern Clinton, Eastern Essex, Northern
  Franklin, Northern St. Lawrence, and Southwestern St. Lawrence
  Counties. In Vermont, Western Addison, Grand Isle, Western
  Chittenden, and Western Franklin Counties.

* WHEN...From noon to 8 PM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Remember to drink fluids and stay hydrated. Take action
when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
