This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of western and north
central New York.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

   Heat Advisory.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms may develop this afternoon and
evening. There is a marginal risk that a few of these storms may
become severe, with the primary risk being localized damaging winds.
Thunderstorms may also contain torrential downpours.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

   Heat Advisory.

A few brief rounds of thunderstorms are expected Saturday through
Sunday night. A few of these storms may be severe, with isolated
damaging winds and torrential downpours.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 PM EDT
SATURDAY...

* LOCATIONS...Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and
  Allegany counties. Highest Heat Index values across lower
  elevations inland from Lake Erie.

* TIMING...From noon today this through early Saturday evening.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...As high as 100 to 103.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure or any strenuous activity may
  lead to heat related illnesses that require immediate medical
  attention. Vehicle interiors can reach lethal temperatures in
  a matter of minutes. Never leave children, pets or the elderly
  unattended in parked vehicles. Temperatures will remain very
  warm and muggy Friday night, preventing non-air conditioned
  buildings from cooling off.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned
room...stay out of the sun...and check in on relatives and
neighbors.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. when
possible...reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
