Scattered showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are possible in the watch area this afternoon and evening. Rainfall rates of 2+ inches per hr are possible with any repetitive thunderstorm activity. A widespread 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches of rainfall is likely with localized rainfall totals of up to 3 inches possible. Much of this could fall in only 3 to 4 hours, causing isolated to scattered instances of flash flooding. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday. No hazardous weather is expected at this time that would meet NWS warning criteria. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, including the following
areas, Northern New Haven and Southern Fairfield, and southeast
New York, including the following areas, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn),
Queens, Richmond (Staten Island), and Southern Westchester.
* WHEN...Until midnight EDT tonight.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of urban, low
lying, and flood prone locations, as well as along rivers, creeks,
and streams.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Numerous showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are
expected late this afternoon and this evening. Widespread
rainfall of 1 to 2 inches and localized rainfall totals of up
to 3 inches are possible, with rainfall rates of over 2
inches per hour possible. Much of this could fall in only 3
to 4 hours, causing isolated to scattered instances of flash
flooding.
