...EXTREME COLD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM
EST WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low
  as 18 below. For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind
  chills as low as 27 below expected.

* WHERE...Portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Ohio
  and northwest Pennsylvania.

* WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, until 7 PM EST this evening.
  For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 7 PM this evening to 10 AM EST
  Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero could cause
  frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite
  and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these
  temperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures could
  cause ruptured water pipes. Wind chill values can lead to
  hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Low temperatures this morning will be in the
  range of 5 above to 5 below zero with wind chill values of 15 to
  20 below zero.

Low temperatures tonight into Wednesday morning will be the coldest
of the stretch, ranging from zero to 15 below zero. Wind chill
values will be between 20 and 25 below zero, with localized colder
wind chills.

Lingering cold with sub zero wind chills could continue through
Wednesday night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
