including the cities of Klamath Falls, Crescent, Sprague
River, Bly, Lakeview, Valley Falls and surrounding communities.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People with respiratory illness should follow their physician`s
advice for dealing with diminished air quality. N95 masks are
effective at filtering out the majority of harmful air
particulates.

State air quality agencies highly recommend that no outdoor
burning occur and that residential wood burning devices be
limited as much as possible. According to state air quality
agencies, prolonged periods of stagnant air can hold pollutants
close to the ground where people live and breathe. Check with
your local burn agency for any current restrictions in your area.

...AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL MONDAY MORNING...

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued an air quality
advisory for southern Oregon due to stagnant air conditions trapping
smoke and other air pollutants near the ground where people breathe.

The following areas are affected:

Valleys in Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, Lake until at least
Monday morning. Check current air quality conditions and advisories
on DEQs Air Quality Index or by downloading the OregonAIR on your
app on your smartphone.

Check your local county health and air agencies to see if theyve
issued wood burning restrictions limiting the use of wood stoves,
fireplaces and outdoor burning. There are often exceptions for those
who use wood exclusively to heat their homes and those with limited
income. Check with your local heath or air agency for current
restrictions.

People can take the following precautions to protect their health:

Follow local burn restrictions to prevent deteriorating air quality.
Avoid strenuous outdoor activity and recreation.
People with heart or lung problems and young children are especially
vulnerable. These people should stay indoors while particulate
levels are high.

Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The
general public is not likely to be affected.
