Hazardous Weather Outlook...CORRECTED National Weather Service San Juan PR 408 AM AST Fri May 10 2024 AMZ711>745-PRZ001>013-111000- San Juan and Vicinity-Northeast-Southeast-Eastern Interior- North Central-Central Interior-Ponce and Vicinity-Northwest- Western Interior-Mayaguez and Vicinity-Southwest-Culebra-Vieques- The nearshore and off shore Atlantic and Caribbean Coastal Waters- 408 AM AST Fri May 10 2024 This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Puerto Rico. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight .Lightning...Isolated to scattered thunderstorms possible, mainly across central Puerto Rico in the afternoon and eastern Puerto Rico, Vieques, and Culebra tonight. Plan to stop all outdoor activity and move to shelters. .Excessive Rainfall...Flooding of urban areas, roads, small streams, and washes. Since soils remain saturated, life- threatening flash flooding and mudslides, possibly entering structures and cutting off neighborhoods. Some rivers will remain or may exceed flood stage, affecting nearby roads and structures. .Excessive Heat...Heat index 102-107 degrees across most coastal areas, including Vieques and Culebra. Heat exhaustion possible with prolonged exposure. .Rip Currents...Life-threatening rip currents are likely in the surf zone, particularly along beaches between Aguadilla and Fajardo across northern Puerto Rico. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday Increased shower and thunderstorm activity is likely through Saturday night, prompting a limited to elevated excessive rainfall and lightning hazards risk. However, these risks will likely persist each day, particularly from the typical afternoon showers and thunderstorm development. With high moisture levels, heat indices could surpass 102 degrees Fahrenheit each day, with the potential for 108-110 degrees in localized areas on Saturday and Sunday.
