...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM AST THIS
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...A period of dangerously hot and humid conditions are
  expected. This level of heat affects anyone without effective
  cooling and/or adequate hydration.

* WHERE...Mayaguez and Vicinity, North Central, Northwest, and
  San Juan and Vicinity Counties.

* WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 5 PM AST this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Puerto Rico.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

.Lightning...Isolated to scattered thunderstorms possible mainly
across interior to northwestern Puerto Rico, as well as northwest
of El Yunque. Be aware of thunderstorms in your area and be
prepared to take shelter.

.Excessive Rainfall...Flooding of urban areas, roads, small
streams, and washes of interior to northwestern Puerto Rico,
possibly northwest of El Yunque. Isolated flash floods possible.

.Excessive Heat...This level of heat affects anyone without
effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts likely in
some health systems, heat-sensitive industries and
infrastructure.

.Wind...Breezy conditions across coastal areas of mainly, north-
central and southwestern PR. Unsecured items could blow around.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Warmer than normal temperatures will persist each day, with
elevated to significant heat impact likely. The risk of flooding
and lightning is expected to continue. A moderate rip current
risk is expected by tonight with hazardous seas expected for the
portions of the local waters and passages as the trade winds
increase.
