...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT /7 PM MDT/ THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values from 97 to 104 degrees.

* WHERE...Portions of west central Minnesota and central, north
  central, and northeast South Dakota.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT /7 PM MDT/ this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for west central Minnesota,
central South Dakota, north central South Dakota and northeast
South Dakota.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Heat indices will be well into the 90s this afternoon across the
region. Temperatures and heat indices will hover around 100 degrees
along and south of Hwy 14. There is a marginal risk (1 out of 5) for
severe storms across portions of central SD tonight. The main threat
will be strong winds.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Hot and humid conditions continue on Saturday with a marginal risk (1
out of 5) for severe storms late Saturday. The main threats will be
large hail and strong winds.
