This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of western South
Dakota and northeastern Wyoming.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Warm, dry and breezy to windy conditions will lead to very high to
extreme fire danger today. Strong westerly winds will develop
tonight with gusts of 45 to 55 mph across most of western South
Dakota and northeastern Wyoming. Gusts of up to 65 mph possible
in the foothills of the Black Hills.

Some light rain and snow is possible this evening into tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday

Elevated to critical fire weather conditions are expected on
Sunday. There are chances for rain and light snow Sunday and
Monday.

.DISCUSSION...Expect partly sunny skies today with highs in the
60s to low 70s. Minimum RHs will range from 15 to 25 percent,
lowest across southwest South Dakota. Winds will be out of the
south to southwest at 15 to 25 mph, gusting 35 to 40 mph,
strongest across southwest South Dakota. This will support very
high to extreme grassland fire danger most areas.

...EXTREME FIRE DANGER...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the extreme category
this afternoon. Extreme weather conditions and very low moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that critical burning conditions exist. All fires have
the potential to become large and spread quickly becoming erratic
with extreme behavioral characteristics. No outdoor burning
should take place.

The outlook for Sunday afternoon, The grassland fire danger index
will reach the very high category to extreme category.

THIS EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR
PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST WYOMING AND SOUTHWEST SOUTH DAKOTA...

.Above average temperatures, low humidities, and gusty winds will
lead to critical fire weather conditions this afternoon. Southwest
winds will increase across northeast Wyoming and southwest South
Dakota today. Relative humidities will drop to around 15 percent,
leading to critical fire weather conditions.

WEATHER ZONES 317, 321, 322, 325, 326, 332, AND 333...

The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a Red Flag
Warning for gusty winds and low relative humidity, which is in
effect from 11 AM this morning to 6 PM MST this evening.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 317 Weston County Plains,
  321 Southern Black Hills, 322 Fall River County Area, 325
  Custer County Plains, 326 Pine Ridge Area, 332 Badlands Area
  and 333 Bennett County Area.

* WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 percent.

* IMPACTS...The combination of gusty winds and low relative
  humidity will produce critical fire weather conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
