A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the east Tennessee mountains this afternoon and evening. A fire danger statement is in effect for the remainder of east Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and southwest North Carolina. Strong gusty winds expected across the East Tennessee mountains and foothills as well as parts of the central and southern Tennessee valley and Cumberland Plateau this afternoon and tonight. Southwest North Carolina, Southwest Virginia, the Cumberland Plateau, and the Tennessee Valley * Winds...Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph or greater are expected across the Cumberland Plateau and in the central and southern Tennessee Valley Wednesday afternoon. Gusts will be less in the northern Valley into southwest Virginia and in southwest North Carolina, but even gusts upwards of 25 mph will be possible in these locations. Gusty conditions continue into the evening before relaxing. * Relative Humidity...The majority of the area will see minimum RH values between 15 to 25 percent tomorrow. However, areas west of interstate 75 will generally be near 25 to 35 percent. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you may burn outdoors. $$
