Storm total snowfall amounts in excess of 12 inches are possible at or above 5,000 feet in elevation in the Smokies, with 4-8 inches elsewhere in the east Tennessee mountains between the Smokies and roughly Sams Gap. Totals of 1-4 inches can be generally expected in the remainder of the east Tennessee mountains and higher terrain of southwest Virginia, with 1-2 inches possible in the northern plateau. In addition to the snowfall, breezy winds will accompany the cold temperatures through tonight, leading to wind chill values around or slightly below zero in the mountains. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday Snowfall comes to an end before daybreak Tuesday, but cold wind chill values around or slightly below zero continue through the mid morning hours.
