...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING...

The Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, including
the following areas, in East Tennessee, Anderson, Campbell,
Claiborne, Grainger, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson,
Morgan, Northwest Carter, Northwest Greene, Scott TN,
Southeast Carter, Sullivan, Unicoi, Union, and Washington TN.
In Southwest Virginia, Lee, Russell, Scott, Washington, and
  Wise.

* Through Sunday morning

* Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall will overspread the
region through early Sunday. Additional rainfall accumulation
of around 1 to 2 inches is possible with localized amounts up
  to 3 inches.

* Given the already saturated soil and high stream flows, the
additional moderate to heavy rains will likely cause
significant stream flooding, roadway flooding, mud slides, and
main stem river flooding. Potentially life threatening
  flooding is possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy
rain...which may lead to flooding in and near the watch area. Be
alert for rising water or water over roadways. Keep informed...
and be ready for action if flooding is observed or if a flood
warning is issued. If you come to a closed or flooded road...turn
around! Don`t drown!

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
