This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Southwest North
Carolina...East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Snow melt and remaining moisture on surfaces will freeze tonight
causing areas of black ice. This may produce some icy travel
conditions tonight and early Tuesday morning.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

A deep area of low pressure will move toward the region at the end
of week, bringing the potential for high winds and mountain waves
across the high terrain and foothills of the eastern TN

The storm system may also produce locally heavy rainfall, including
over the areas of western NC that are deeply snow covered. As some
of our area rivers flow westward from those mountainous areas
into east Tennessee and and southwest Virginia, there is some
potential for river flooding to occur by this weekend as rainfall
and snowmelt combine impacts.

Spotter activation will not be needed.

...Areas of Black Ice Expected Tonight...

Areas of black ice are expected to develop tonight as
temperatures drop below freezing. Even on roads that have been
cleared of snow, remaining moisture will freeze resulting in a
clear sheet of ice on roads that cannot be easily seen. Be
cautious, slow down, and allow additional time to reach your
destination if traveling tonight and early Tuesday morning.
