This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest North
Carolina...east Tennessee and southwest Virginia.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

...Slick Spots Possible this Morning, especially on Bridges and
Overpasses...

Subfreezing temperatures have spread across much of the area this
morning. This will allow the snow and icy covered roadways across
mainly the Plateau Counties and lingering moisture on roadways
to refreeze. These slick spots and patchy black ice may result in
hazardous driving conditions through the morning hours.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

...Light Freezing Rain Possible across parts of Southwest Virginia
and Northeast Tennessee early Friday Morning...
...Mountain Wave High Wind Event Possible across the Far East
Tennessee Mountains and Foothills next Monday Afternoon and
Night...
...Heavy Rainfall Possible Monday Night and Tuesday Morning...

A return of precipitation is expected late Thursday night and
Friday morning. Subfreezing temperatures are possible across parts
of southwest Virginia and northeast Tennessee early Friday morning
allowing areas of light freezing rain to develop. Light icing is
possible. Temperatures will warm above freezing by mid-morning.

A strong system will move toward the Tennessee valley and southern
Appalachians next Monday. Strong southerly winds may develop
aloft producing a Mountain Wave High Wind event across the far
east Tennessee Mountains and adjacent Foothills. Widespread rain
is expected to spread across the region late Monday and Monday
night with locally heavy rainfall possible. Given this system is
several days out, confidence is low in regard to timing and
strength.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not anticipated.

Subfreezing temperatures have spread across much of the area this

mainly the Plateau Counties and lingering moisture on area
roadways to refreeze. These slick spots and patchy black ice may
result in hazardous driving conditions through the morning hours.

Motorists should exercise caution with traveling this morning and
be prepared for isolated slick spots, especially across the
Plateau Counties. Slow down and give yourself extra time to reach
your destination. Be especially alert when driving across bridges
and overpasses. Temperatures will climb above freezing by mid to
late morning under mostly sunny sky.
