This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest North
Carolina...east Tennessee and southwest Virginia.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Scattered showers and storms will be around this afternoon into
early evening. A few storms may become strong to severe with
damaging winds the primary threat. Very heavy rainfall will also
be possible which may lead to localized flooding.

Very hot conditions can be expected especially over portions of
southeast Tennessee this afternoon. See the heat advisory for more
details.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

Scattered showers and thunderstorms can be expected Saturday
afternoon with the highest coverage over northern and eastern
areas. A few storms may become strong to severe with damaging
winds the primary threat. Very heavy rainfall will also be
possible which may lead to localized flooding.

It will be very hot Saturday and Sunday afternoons especially
across portions of southeast Tennessee. See the heat advisory for

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values exceeding 100 will be common in the
  afternoons, with some locations reaching or exceeding 105.

* WHERE...Bledsoe, Bradley, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Rhea,
  Sequatchie, and West Polk Counties.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
