This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southeast New
Mexico, southwest Texas, and western Texas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

A strong cold front will usher in record cold temperatures today
and tonight.

A Hard Freeze Warning is in effect tonight for southeast New Mexico
and most of west Texas.

Freezing rain, sleet and snow is expected to develop tonight across
southeast New Mexico and much of west Texas. A Winter Storm Warning
is in effect tonight for southeast New Mexico, the Guadalupe and
Delaware Mountains, and the northern and central Permian Basin
of west Texas.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect tonight for the southern
Permian Basin, Trans Pecos, Van Horn Highway 54 Corridor and the
Davis Mountains.

A High Wind Warning is in effect through tonight for the higher
elevations of the Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains of west Texas
including Guadalupe Pass.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

A High Wind Warning is in effect Tuesday morning for the higher
elevations of the Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains of west Texas
including Guadalupe Pass.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for southeast New Mexico, the
Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains, and the northern and central
Permian Basin of west Texas Tuesday and Tuesday night.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect Tuesday and Tuesday night for
the southern Permian Basin, Trans Pecos, Van Horn Highway 54
Corridor and the Davis Mountains.

A freeze is possible Tuesday night and Wednesday morning across
portions of the Big Bend including the Presidio Valley.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not anticipated currently. However, activation
is likely tonight through Wednesday morning.

Please relay any information about observed severe weather to the
NWS while following all local, state and CDC guidelines.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM CDT /6 PM
MDT/ THIS EVENING TO 7 AM CDT /6 AM MDT/ WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow
  accumulations of up to 6 inches and ice accumulations of
  around three tenths of an inch.

* WHERE...In New Mexico, Eddy County Plains, and Southern Lea
  County. In Texas, Midland, Glasscock and Ector Counties.

* WHEN...From 7 PM CDT /6 PM MDT/ this evening to 7 AM CDT /6 AM
  MDT/ Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the
  ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions
  could impact the morning or evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A Winter Storm Warning means significant
  amounts of snow, sleet and ice are expected. Strong winds are
  also possible in the Guadalupe Mountains. This will make travel
  very hazardous.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

...HARD FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM CDT /6 PM MDT/ THIS
EVENING TO 10 AM CDT /9 AM MDT/ TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 23 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast New Mexico and southwest and
  western Texas.

* WHEN...From 7 PM CDT /6 PM MDT/ this evening to 10 AM CDT /9
  AM MDT/ Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
  sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
  plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
