This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for North and Central Texas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Dangerous heat will be a concern today, with high temperatures up to
108 degrees and heat index values ranging from 105 to 110 degrees,
perhaps even higher in some spots.

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms this morning northeast of a
line from Bonham to Canton. Severe weather is not expected, but gusty
winds and lightning strikes will pose a hazard with any activity.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Dangerous heat will be a concern again on Saturday. Thunderstorm
chances will increase again Sunday night and continue through Monday
night across all of North Texas. Gusty winds and lightning will be
the main threats.

There will be an elevated fire weather threat each afternoon and
early evening today through Sunday.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 and actual temperatures up
  to 105.

* WHERE...Most of North, Central, and East Texas.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity will increase the
  risk for heat-related illnesses to occur, particularly for
  those working or participating in outdoor activities.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
