...FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THURSDAY TO NOON CST
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 expected.

* WHERE...South Texas.

* WHEN...From 9 PM Thursday to noon CST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
  sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
  plumbing.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THURSDAY TO NOON CST
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Freezing rain and sleet expected. Total ice accumulations
  of around one tenth of an inch over the southern Brush Country
  to the southern Coastal Bend with lighter amounts to the north.
  A change over to snow is possible over the Brush Country early
  Friday morning but accumulations are expected to be below an
  inch.

* WHERE...South Texas.

* WHEN...From 9 PM Thursday to noon CST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
  conditions could impact the morning commute. The cold wind
  chills as low as 20 degrees could result in hypothermia if
  precautions are not taken.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

This hazardous weather outlook is for South Texas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

A strong cold front will move through tonight with strong
northerly winds developing behind it.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Thursday evening through
Friday morning for minor ice accumulations across much of South
Texas. A mix with snow and/or sleet is also expected.

A Freeze Watch is in effect from Thursday evening through Friday
morning for much of South Texas with temperatures expected between
28 and 32 degrees. Wind chill values near 20 degrees are also
expected.

Temperatures around 32 degrees and wind chill values 20-25
degrees are possible Saturday morning.

Spotter activation is not anticipated.
