Minor coastal flooding is possible during times of high tide. High Risk of Rip Currents for the Gulf-facing beaches of the Middle Texas Coast today and tonight. Heat index values of 105-109 expected this afternoon across areas near and west of I-37, including the inland portions of San Patricio County. A few locations may briefly reach 110+ across the southern Coastal Bend. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday Minor Coastal Flooding will be possible at the time of high tide Saturday along with a Moderate Risk of Rip Currents. Heat index values of 110+ are expected Saturday afternoon over the inland Coastal Bend and Brush Country, with values of 105+ possible Sunday. Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible over the northern Brush Country Saturday evening. The combination of warm temperatures and high dewpoints will produce heat indices between 105 and 109 degrees today across the Brush Country and southern Coastal Bend, roughly areas near and west of Interstate 37 as well as inland portions of San Patricio County. A few locations across the southern Coastal Bend may approach values around 110 at times this afternoon. Residents with outdoor activities planned are urged to drink plenty of water, wear light weight and light colored clothing and take frequent breaks from the heat. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. $$ CB
