.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Very hot conditions will continue through tonight across much of
the region.

Critical fire weather conditions will continue across portions of
northern and eastern Utah through tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

Very hot conditions will continue for much of the region through
the weekend.

Critical fire weather conditions will continue across portions of
northern and eastern Utah Thursday afternoon and evening.

High-based showers and thunderstorms will be possible each
afternoon and evening through Saturday across portions of central
and southern Utah as well as the High Uintas. Expect occasional
lightning and gusty and erratic microburst winds.


Spotter activation is not expected. Please relay any information
about observed severe weather to the NWS while following all
local, state, and CDC guidelines.

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 113.

* WHERE...South Central Utah, Lower Washington County, Zion
  National Park and Glen Canyon Recreation Area/Lake Powell.

* WHEN...Until 10 PM MDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Extreme heat will significantly increase the
  potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those
  working or participating in outdoor activities.


Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
