HUMIDITY FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 496 AND 498...

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Red
Flag Warning, which is now in effect until 9 PM Tuesday. The Fire
Weather Watch for Tuesday is no longer in effect.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 496 Color Country Mountains
  and Fire Weather Zone 498 Grand Staircase.

* WINDS...West 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 6 percent.

* IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected. Any
  new fire starts could spread rapidly.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or are imminent. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM MDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 110.

* WHERE...Lower Washington County, South Central Utah, Glen
  Canyon Recreation Area/Lake Powell and Zion National Park.

* WHEN...Until 10 PM MDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Extreme heat will significantly increase the
  potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those
  working or participating in outdoor activities.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Utah...
northern Utah...southern Utah...southwest Utah and southwest
Wyoming.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect across the lower
elevations of southern Utah through this evening, where high
temperatures will range from 105 to 110 degrees.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for much of northern, central
and eastern Utah through this evening, where gusty winds, very
low humidity, and dry fuels will result in critical fire weather
conditions.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday

Critical fire weather conditions are expected across southwest
Utah Monday, then over much of the outlook area through midweek,
due to a combination of strengthening southwesterly winds and
very low humidity.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation may be needed. Please relay any information
about observed severe weather to the NWS while following all
local, state, and CDC guidelines.
