Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Morristown TN 240 PM EDT Fri Mar 21 2025 VAZ001-002-005-006-008-220000- Lee-Wise-Scott VA-Russell-Washington VA- Including the cities of Rose Hill, Big Stone Gap, Norton, Wise, Coeburn, Appalachia, Pardee, Hiltons, Hansonville, Lebanon, Dye, Castlewood, Honaker, Rosedale, Benhams, Bristol VA, and Abingdon 240 PM EDT Fri Mar 21 2025 ...ELEVATED FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING... ...ELEVATED FIRE DANGER SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING... Low relative humidity values can be expected this afternoon, with values in the lower to mid 20s over most areas of southwest Virginia. West to southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph with some higher gusts are also occurring this afternoon. These conditions will lead to increased fire danger this afternoon into early evening. Relative humidity values will drop into the 30 to 35 percent range over much of southwest Virginia Saturday afternoon. In addition, winds will become westerly around 10 to 20 mph in most locations with gusts of 20 to 30 mph common. These conditions will again lead to increased fire danger. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you may burn outdoors today and again Saturday. $$
