...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of
northeastern Roanoke, west central Bedford and south central
Botetourt Counties and the City of Roanoke through 145 PM EDT...

At 114 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Cloverdale, or near Roanoke, moving southeast at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Roanoke...
Vinton...
Troutville...
Stewartsville...
Laymantown...
and Blue Ridge.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Locally heavy rain will quickly reduce visibility and result in
ponding of water on roadways, standing water in low lying areas, and
minor flooding of creeks, streams, and areas of poor drainage.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution to avoid
hydroplaning.

  Craig, Giles, Montgomery, Pulaski, Roanoke, Rockbridge, Smyth,
  Tazewell and Wythe. In southeast West Virginia, Eastern
  Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe, Summers and Western Greenbrier.

* WHEN...From Noon EDT today through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
