...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of west central Virginia, including the
  following county, Franklin.

* WHEN...Until 1100 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
  imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 759 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have
    fallen.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Little Chestnut Creek, Blackwater River, Doe Run, Little Doe
    Run, Coles Creek, Little Creek, Furnace Creek, Hatchet Creek
    and Maggodee Creek.
    Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
    the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of North Carolina, including the following
  counties, Caswell, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Wilkes and Yadkin
  and Virginia, including the following counties, Amherst,
  Appomattox, Bedford, Botetourt, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte,
  Franklin, Halifax, Henry, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Roanoke and
  Rockbridge.

* WHEN...Until midnight EDT tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Slow moving thunderstorms are expected to re-develop during
    the peak heating part of the day. Rainfall rates of 2 to 4
    inches in an hour are possible, and this may lead to flash
    flooding if a storm lingers over an area for even a short
    amount of time.

THROUGH THIS EVENING...

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north central North Carolina,
northwest North Carolina, central Virginia, south central Virginia,
southwest Virginia and west central Virginia.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

Please listen to NOAA Weather Radio or go to weather.gov on the
Internet for more information about the following hazards.

   Flood Watch.

Slow moving thunderstorms may lead to flooding this afternoon and
evening. Rain rates up to 4 inches in an hour are possible. There is
a slight risk (level 2 of 4) for excessive rainfall.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

There is a marginal risk (level 1 of 4) of excessive rainfall
from thunderstorms Wednesday through the upcoming weekend...mainly
due to slow moving afternoon and evening thunderstorms.
