This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central Virginia, south central Virginia and west central Virginia. .DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight. Widely scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and evening. In addition to frequent lightning, there is a Marginal Risk, level 1 of 5, that these storms will produce localized damaging wind gusts. There is also a Slight Risk, level 2 of 4, that the storms will produce heavy rain that may result in flash flooding. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. Thunderstorms will redevelop each afternoon and evening through much of the week. A few of the stronger storms will be capable of damaging wind gusts and locally heavy rain that may result in flash flooding. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... * At 722 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Burnt
Chimney, or 8 miles south of Stewartsville, moving east at 10 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Prepare immediately for damaging winds. For your safety, move to an
interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away
from windows.
If on or near Smith Mountain Lake, get away from the water and move
indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to
15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you
are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter
now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
Locally heavy rain will quickly reduce visibility and result in
ponding of water on roadways, standing water in low lying areas, and
minor flooding of creeks, streams, and areas of poor drainage.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution to avoid
hydroplaning.
When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of hail of any
size, as well as reports of any wind damage, including downed trees
or large limbs, to the National Weather Service by calling toll free

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
