PM EST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and
  6 inches.

* WHERE...Portions of central and south central Virginia.

* WHEN...From 6 AM Wednesday to 6 PM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult. The hazardous conditions
  will impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. Call 511 for road information.

  Nottoway River Near Stony Creek affecting Greensville and Sussex
  Counties.

  Nottoway River At Sebrell affecting Sussex and Southampton
  Counties.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Virginia...

  Appomattox River At Mattoax affecting Powhatan, Chesterfield and
  Amelia Counties.

  James River At Richmond Westham affecting City of Richmond,
  Chesterfield and Henrico Counties.

  Appomattox River At Matoaca affecting City of Petersburg,
  Dinwiddie and Chesterfield Counties.

  Chickahominy River above Providence Forge affecting New Kent and
  Charles City Counties.

For the Lower James Basin...including Richmond Locks, Richmond
Westham, Cartersville...Moderate flooding is forecast.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Appomattox River at Matoaca.

* WHEN...Until late Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, Minor flooding begins. Canal begins to
  overflow along the right bank.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 8:45 PM EST Tuesday the stage was 10.6 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 8:45 PM EST Tuesday was 10.6 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    early Thursday morning and continue falling to 9.3 feet
    Friday morning.
  - Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    10.6 feet on 03/21/1983.
