...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Maryland, including the following
  areas, Inland Worcester, Maryland Beaches and Somerset and
  Virginia, including the following areas, Accomack, Chesapeake,
  Gloucester, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, James City, Mathews,
  Middlesex, Newport News, Norfolk/Portsmouth, Northampton,
  Southampton, Suffolk, Surry, Virginia Beach and York.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - 2 to 4 inches of rainfall with localized higher amounts has
    fallen across portions of the watch area over the past 24
    hours. Additional showers and storms are possible this
    afternoon and evening, which could produce an additional 2-3"
    of rain and result in further instances of flash-flooding.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 230 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...
...REPLACES FLASH FLOOD WARNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Virginia,
  including the following counties, in south central Virginia,
  Prince George. In southeast Virginia, Southampton, Surry and
  Sussex.

* WHEN...Until 230 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
  remain closed due to flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 849 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is
    already occurring in the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches
    of rain have fallen. Many creeks and streams remain flooded
    with road closures.
  - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
    expected.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Waverly, Wakefield, Claremont, Sussex, Ivor, Dendron, Stony
    Creek, Homeville, Sedley, Elberon, Cabin Point, Manry,
    Littleton, Dory, Newville, Booth Fork, Berlin, Carsley,
    Lumberton and Vicksville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Virginia and southeast Virginia.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

Daily scattered showers and storms will remain possible each day
through midweek. Locally heavy rain and flash flooding are the
primary concerns. Additionally, heat indices could reach 105F+ on
Friday, so Heat Advisories may be required.
