Heavy snow will make travel very difficult during this time. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the northern Shenandoah Valley, eastern West Virginia Panhandle, and northern Maryland this afternoon through early Wednesday. Snow covered and slippery roads are expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for northern and central Virginia as well as portions of the Potomac Highlands of Virginia and West Virginia continues through 7 AM Wednesday. Heavy snow will make travel very difficult during this time. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the northern Shenandoah Valley, eastern West Virginia Panhandle, and northern Maryland continues through 7 AM Wednesday. Snow covered and slippery roads are expected. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the northern and central Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains from 3 PM Wednesday through 3 AM Thursday. Significant ice accumulations around one-quarter of an inch are possible. Elsewhere, a wintry mix may cause additional snow and ice accumulation late Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night, especially across northern Maryland, and near and west of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Moderate to heavy rainfall is possible Saturday through Sunday. The rain combined with melting snow may lead to instances of flooding. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze. * WHERE...Portions of northern and northwest Virginia and eastern West Virginia. * WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 7 AM EST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes. Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will overspread the area late this morning into this afternoon, with the steadiest snow expected late this afternoon and evening.
