At 230 PM, a cold front was pushing east of the Appalachian Mountains. In addition, a line of showers and thunderstorms stretched from Clear Spring, MD, to Martinsburg, WV, to Berryville, VA, moving northeast. Wind gusts of 45 to 60 mph have been observed with these features. Expect these strong to damaging winds to spread eastward across the greater Baltimore and Washington area, Virginia piedmont, and southern Maryland between 3 and 5 PM. Residents should prepare for the onset of these strong to damaging winds. Remain in the lower levels of your home and avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution if you must drive. $$
