...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 145 AM EDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, eastern, and southeast
  Virginia, including the following counties, in central Virginia,
  Hanover and Henrico. In east central Virginia, Charles City,
  Essex, King William, King and Queen, New Kent and Richmond. In
  eastern Virginia, Lancaster and Middlesex. In southeast Virginia,
  James City.

* WHEN...Until 145 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1036 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have
    fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
    the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    New Kent, King William, West Point, King And Queen Court
    House, Talleysville, Saint Stephens Church, Roxbury, Highland
    Springs, Robley, Stevensville, Little Plymouth, Tunstall,
    Millers Tavern, Aylett, Manquin, Barhamsville, Providence
    Forge, Center Cross, Jamaica and Bottoms Bridge.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.

  following areas, Amelia, Brunswick, Caroline, Charles City,
  Cumberland, Dinwiddie, Eastern Chesterfield (Including Col.
  Heights), Eastern Essex, Eastern Hanover, Eastern Henrico, Eastern
  King William, Eastern King and Queen, Eastern Louisa, Fluvanna,
  Goochland, Greensville, Lancaster, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, New
  Kent, Northumberland, Nottoway, Powhatan, Prince Edward, Prince
  George (including Hopewell and Petersburg), Richmond, Sussex,
  Western Chesterfield, Western Essex, Western Hanover, Western

  flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.

   Flood Watch.

Showers and storms are likely late afternoon into the overnight.
Heavy rainfall and gusty winds will accompany the stronger storms.
Localized flash flooding is possible.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

Daily scattered showers and storms will remain possible each day
through midweek. Additional rounds of locally heavy rain will also
make additional instances of flash flooding possible.
