Hydrologic Outlook
Hydrologic Outlook WAC057-061-073-070945- Hydrologic Outlook National Weather Service Seattle WA 1231 PM PST Fri Dec 6 2024 ...THREAT OF RIVER FLOODING REMAINS SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST WASHINGTON AND THE OLYMPIC PENINSULA... A stronger storm system will move though the area over much of the weekend that could produce enough rainfall to drive a few rivers in western Washington above flood stage. This Flood Potential Outlook has been issued for Skagit, Snohomish, and Whatcom Counties. It has been upgraded to a Flood Watch for Mason County. There is still a fair amount of uncertainty regarding flooding since the precipitation forecasts have been quite variable. Rainfall forecasts at this time are for 3 to as much as 5 inches in the central and north Cascades. The rainfall forecasts have increases over the north Cascades and especially in Snohomish County and the Stillaguamish River Basin. Snow levels will remain quite high during the bulk of the heavy precipitation, ranging between 7000 and 9000 feet. This will enable most of the precipitation to turn into storm runoff. Please monitor the latest river forecasts from the National Weather Service for additional information. $$ JBB
