Rain and mountain snow are expected across parts of northern California and the Pacific Northwest on Friday. Heavy snow is forecast for the higher mountain elevations over the weekend. Meanwhile, rain and thunderstorms are forecast for parts of the Southeast and Gulf Coast states Friday and Saturday.

  • SynopsisSHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORM CHANCES WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASE IN AREAL COVERAGE THROUGH THE LATE MORNING AS A SURFACE FRONT PUSHES THROUGH THE AREA. THIS FRONT WILL PUSH ACROSS OFFSHORE WATERS BY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON WITH A MODERATE OFFSHORE FLOW DEVELOPING IN ITS WAKE...AND THEN CONTINUING THROUGH SATURDAY. DRIER CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL TONIGHT AND SATURDAY. AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL PRODUCE ANOTHER ROUND OF RAIN ON SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY. THE RAIN WILL END SUNDAY EVENING AS THE DISTURBANCE EXITS TO THE EAST. BRIEF ONSHORE FLOW IS EXPECTED ON MONDAY AHEAD OF THE NEXT COLD FRONT ON TUESDAY. MODERATE TO STRONG OFFSHORE FLOW AND HIGHER SEAS ARE EXPECTED BEHIND THE FRONT.
