Today:

Tranquil weather was observed across Iowa early this morning with only
high clouds passing overhead, mostly across southern Iowa. Winds were
generally light with temperatures in the mid 50s to lower 60s across
the state. The quiet conditions are forecast to persist today with
mostly sunny skies and pleasant conditions. Highs are forecast to top
out in the mid 70s to lower 80s with breezy northwest winds over much
of Iowa by afternoon.

Tonight and beyond:

The benign conditions persist into Monday with another pleasant day
and similar weather to today although winds will not be as strong. A
front is expected to approach Iowa on Tuesday with the threat of
scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. However, the front will be
weakening and widespread rainfall is not expected. Temperatures are
forecast to increase by midweek as highs push toward 90 degrees by
Wednesday and Thursday. Scattered thunderstorms may return by later
Thursday into Friday with some cooler air arriving by the end of the
work week.
