.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 254 PM CDT Mon Jun 10 2024

Tranquil weather is expected for the entire forecast period, with
much warmer temperatures by the end of this week and into the
weekend. The warmest days will be Friday and Sunday with
temperatures in the 90`s. Northwest flow aloft remains in place
through Wednesday helping to maintain high pressure across the Ohio
Valley. E/NE flow will continue to filter in drier and cooler
air Tuesday and Wednesday. Low temperatures tonight will be
cool especially across portions of southern IL and SW Indiana
where lows will dip into the upper 40`s to lower 50`s.

Upper troughing across the central Appalachians begins to move east
while upper level ridging develops across the four corners. The
warm up begins on Wednesday as highs reach back into the middle
80`s. Upper level ridging builds across the central US Thursday
into the weekend. High temperatures continue to rise with highs
approaching 90 by Thursday, and low to mid 90`s on Friday.
Southerly flow begins to advect gulf moisture poleward late this
weekend and especially into early next week. Temperatures at
850mb begin to approach 20-22C on Sunday which supports highs
in the low to mid 90`s. NBM continues to paint high
probabilities for greater than 90 degrees for much of the area
(60-70+%). Not seeing much if any precipitation this week.
Guidance still shows a front approaching on Friday but with
limited moisture to work with NBM keeps the forecast dry. Early
next week looks to feature increasing PoPs with better moisture
advection. This increased moisture also means heat index values
will be on the rise with indices in the upper 90`s to near 100
this weekend and into early next week.
