Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
437 AM CDT Sat May 25 2024

...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM...

.SHORT TERM...
(Saturday through Sunday)
Issued at 414 AM CDT Sat May 25 2024

Another round of precipitation will be possible by the end of this
weekend in otherwise warmer than normal temperatures. This is due
to a meandering frontal boundary that will drift back north into
the Great Plains as a warm front. High resolution guidance
continues to suggest some thunderstorms drifting into northeast
Texas after sunset once again. Temperature maximums/minimums will
remain above average due to some compressional heating/southerly
winds, with lower 90s/low-to-mid 70s respectively. /16/

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday Night through Saturday)
Issued at 414 AM CDT Sat May 25 2024

Near normal weather conditions will briefly return across the
Four State Region going into the next work week. This is due to
frontal passage expected by Tuesday coinciding with generally
overrunning shortwaves in quasi-zonal flow transitioning to
northwesterly flow as ridging builds in further north across
Texas. This will not preclude parts of the area from just about
daily chances of afternoon convection, and about 1 inch of
rainfall expected in the next 7 days, according to the latest WPC
QPF. Temperature maximums/minimums will respond in-kind with
upper 80s/upper 60s lower 70s, respectively (and near normal for
this time of the year). /16/

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1225 AM CDT Sat May 25 2024

Southerly winds 5 to 10 knots overnight to increase to around 10
knots on Saturday, diminishing to around 5 knots after 26/00Z.
Ongoing convection to bring TSRA conditions to ELD through 25/07Z
with conditions improving thereafter. Otherwise, MVFR ceilings to
overspread the region overnight, gradually lifting to VFR by mid-
afternoon. /05/
