097 FZUS63 KMQT 020201 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 1001 PM EDT Sat Jun 1 2024 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS...A weak 29.9 inch trough over western Lake Superior this evening dissipates tonight as it continues east across the lake. On Sunday, weak 30.0 inch ridging develops across the western Great Lakes. As this ridge shifts east toward the Lower Great Lakes Sunday night, a 29.6 inch trough moves northeast from the the northern Plains toward Minnesota and northern Ontario. This trough weakens on Monday as it continues northeast through northern Ontario, leaving Lake Superior between weak high at 30.0 inches over Quebec and a 29.7 inch trough over Minnesota. On Tuesday, a 29.2 inch low pressure tracking across the Canadian Prairies will push the trough eastward to the Upper Mississippi Valley. The trough deepens to 29.4 inches by Wednesday morning over Lake Superior while the parent low tracks into Manitoba. These low pressure features then look to slow down for Wednesday and Thursday as they meander eastward through northern Ontario and the Upper Great Lakes.
