Rangeland Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Sioux Falls SD
403 PM CDT Tue Oct 7 2025

.DISCUSSION...
The fire danger remains low through the rest of today into
tonight as winds stay light. Southerly winds pick up during the
day tomorrow, with gusts up to 20-40 mph, strongest west of I-29.
The lowest relative humidity values will be around 30-40% tomorrow
afternoon, but the lowest RH values will be east of I-29 and thus
displaced from the strongest winds. However, with the continued
drying of fuels, a locally high fire danger will be in place for
central and south-central South Dakota tomorrow afternoon.

Breezy conditions look to continue into Thursday, but the
strongest winds will be during the morning hours when relative
humidity is higher. Thus, the fire danger will likely be lower on
Thursday. Winds will be lighter on Friday before picking up again
heading into the weekend.
