.KEY MESSAGES...
1. After cooler than average temperatures today, seasonably
warm temperatures with dry conditions return Sunday through
much of next week.

2. Another low pressure system will bring the next chance for
precipitation Friday into next Saturday.

.DISCUSSION...
Cooler than average temperatures will prevail once again today
as a northwest flow prevails behind the trough that passed over
Central California yesterday. However, it will be a bit warmer
today. Dry conditions are expected until late next week as a
ridge of high pressure sets up, though not significantly strong.
A noticeable warming trend is in store Sunday through the
middle of the week. There is about a 45 to 70 percent chance of
highs reaching 85 degrees by Tuesday and Wednesday in the San
Joaquin Valley with slightly higher chances for the Kern County
desert.

The next cooling trend begins Friday into next weekend,
though a modest change is projected at this time with highs
still near 80 degrees in the warmest locations. A 15 to 30
percent chance for precipitation exists for both Friday and next
Saturday for much of the region, with the highest chances over
the Sierra Nevada. Snow levels will generally be 9,000 to 10,000
feet as models show an influx of tropical moisture moving into
our area, as well as the Desert Southwest and Southern CA.
Exact details such as amount and track remain uncertain at this
time.

The latest outlooks from the Climate Prediction Center show
below average temperatures for the 6-10 day and 8-14 day periods
with above average precipitation favored.
