Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service Wichita KS
207 AM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025

It was a cool and quiet night over the Central Plains with low
temperatures ranging from the low 40s across the Dakotas to the
upper 50s across the Red River Valley. Winds were light and
variable as high pressure built in over eastern Nebraska, with
scattered to broken cloud coverage observed over portions of the
High Plains into Oklahoma and Kansas.

Another seasonably cool day is forecast across the region today,
with afternoon high temperatures ranging from the middle 60s across
Nebraska to the 70s and low 80s across Kansas and Oklahoma. Partly
cloudy skies are forecast for most of the area along with winds
shifting around to the south as high pressure slides to the east.
Gusts up to 25 mph are possible across portions of eastern Colorado,
western Kansas, and western Nebraska this afternoon.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms will return to portions of
central and eastern Kansas tonight. The strongest of these will be
capable of small hail and brief gusty winds. Otherwise, the rest of
the area is expected to remain dry despite partly to mostly cloudy
skies overhead. Low temperatures in the 50s are forecast from South
Dakota to central Oklahoma.
