.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 409 AM EST Sun Nov 23 2025
Mild temperatures were over the forecast area to start the day.
These readings around 40 degrees will be able to rise above to
much above normal in the 50s as skies become sunny later today.
Dry air in this airmass along with enough low level mixing will
prevent any fog formation early this morning. Temperatures will
slip back to normal briefly tonight with lows in the upper 20s
to around 30. The dry ground conditions should help accentuate
the large diurnal ranges. Two more mild days are ahead Monday
and Tuesday with highs also in the 50s.
Light rain will overspread the area Monday night and then end
over most places Tuesday as an upper level low from the West
Coast phases and eventually becomes absorbed by a strong
shortwave amplifying across the Northern Plains. This system
will deepen as it moves into the Midwest. Rain will develop
Monday night and briefly end Tuesday afternoon before the next
system arrives Tuesday night. Temperatures initially will stay
much above freezing Tuesday, so snow or freezing conditions are
not expected. However, a strong cold front will move across the
area Wednesday and will likely change any areas of rain or rain
showers to all snow except possibly over the mild waters of Lake
Michigan. Inversion heights should stay low and the cloud layer
shallow according to the 00Z BUFKIT profiles. All considered,
conditions will be mild and windy Wednesday, then turn blustery
and much colder Thursday and then remain cold Friday and
Saturday with highs only in the 30s. Any snowfall amounts appear
to be limited at this time through this upcoming week.
