Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Miami FL
149 AM EST Wed Dec 10 2025
...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, AVIATION, MARINE, BEACHES...
.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 145 AM EST Wed Dec 10 2025
- Hazardous boating conditions expected today as winds surge
behind the frontal passages.
- Isolated showers and a few thunderstorms could develop this
afternoon across southeast Florida and the Atlantic waters.
- Drier conditions return on Thursday.
.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Thursday)
Issued at 145 AM EST Wed Dec 10 2025
A weak frontal boundary remains stalled across the Florida Straits
early this morning, with ample cloud coverage still associated with
the front overspreading the CWA. Northerly winds behind the
front have ushered much drier air over the region, which will help
inhibit rainfall chances today, but the cloudy conditions will
persist until the early afternoon. Conditions will gradually clear
up, and temperatures will warm up a little compared to Tuesday,
with highs in the mid 70s to low 80s.
A reinforcing dry front is forecast to sweep south across the area
late tonight into Thursday, finally pushing the stationary front
over the FL Straits south, and driving another surge of dry air
across the region. Temperatures will also drop as a result, with
lows tonight dropping to the low 50s over the interior and the low
60s over the East Coast, and further down on Thursday night to the
low-mid 40s across the interior and mid-upper 50s across the East
Coast.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday night through Tuesday)
Issued at 145 AM EST Wed Dec 10 2025
High pressure will build behind the aforementioned frontal passage
late this week, keeping conditions dry and seasonable. Confidence
in the forecast begins to decrease late in the weekend and into
next week. Some ensemble members hint at a developing upper-level
disturbance over the Gulf that could slide eastward over the
peninsula, potentially injecting moisture along the column and
leading to a slight uptick in rain chances. While uncertainty
remains regarding timing and intensity, went with the prevailing
NBM guidance for the end of the period, with PoPs in the 20-30%
range.
Expect a gradual warming trend through the weekend, with highs each
day in the mid to upper 70s, gradually rising to the lower 80s; and
lows in the mid 50s over the interior, and mid 60s along the coasts.

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 145 AM EST Wed Dec 10 2025
Cloud coverage associated with a boundary to our south will result
in periods of lower CIGs and MVFR/IFR conditions for East Coast
terminals early this morning. Conditions should begin to clear up
after 12Z. Northeasterly to easterly winds overnight will
gradually veer from the south, then the west today as another
front approaches.
&&
.MARINE...
Issued at 145 AM EST Wed Dec 10 2025
Moderate northerly to northeasterly winds will prevail across the
local waters over the next couple of days while a frontal boundary
lingers over the FL straits. Seas will range from 3-5 ft each day. A
few thunderstorms could be likely over the Atlantic waters today,
with locally higher winds and seas possible.
&&
.BEACHES...
Issued at 145 AM EST Wed Dec 10 2025
A high risk of rip currents will prevail for Palm Beach county
beaches today as a northeasterly swell develops along the
coastline.
