.DISCUSSION...Today through Thursday.

We have been anticipating the approach of an area of low pressure
this weekend, with the potential for the return of unsettled
weather. However, this low`s track has trended further west and
south such that it will avoid our forecast area entirely before
stalling in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. Meanwhile, our
persistent northwest flow aloft will allow for the passage of a
shortwave Inside Slider during the latter half of the weekend into
early next week. This system will drop temperatures by 4 to 6
degrees between Sunday and Monday and will increase northerly
afternoon breezes (10-20 mph areawide, with 25-35 mph in the
Colorado River Valley) Monday afternoon. Otherwise, the northwest
flow aloft continues through the work week, allowing for additional
shortwave passages to return breezy afternoons. The most robust
shortwave looks to drop through the southern Great Basin and Mojave
Desert midweek. The exact trajectory of this trough will determine
precipitation chances for the area, as a westward trajectory will
allow for Pacific moisture uptake and an eastward trajectory will
keep the system dry. The current forecast favors the eastward
trajectory, with 20-30% PoPs across the Mojave Desert, but with
negligible accumulations. Expect a return of gusty north winds
Wednesday and Thursday as the associated cold front passes through
the forecast area. That said, not expecting a noticable change in
temperatures at this time. Will continue to monitor this system`s
forecast trajectory and strength as we move through the weekend.
