The departing strong low pressure system exiting northeast Kansas
late this afternoon brought snow and blowing snow to the western
part of the state today. Winds were blowing out of the north with
speeds sustained near 30 mph and gusting to near 50 mph. This made
for difficult driving conditions and closure of some roads.
Temperatures were in the 20s in the western part of the state
while the eastern part of the state saw morning to afternoon
temperatures in the 50s to mid 60s under mostly cloudy skies.
With the passage of the cold front across the state, allowed for
colder air to filter into the state. Temperatures over central and
south central Kansas began to fall into the upper 20s to mid 40s.
In contrast, the eastern side of the state still had afternoon
temperatures in the low to mid 60s.

Tonight temperatures will bottom out in the low to upper teens
across western Kansas while the eastern part of the state will see
lows in the mid 20s to low 30s across southeast Kansas. Winds
will not be as strong as the last few days but will be gusty
between 20 to 30 mph. Additional snow amounts of 1 to 3 inches
will be possible tonight over central Kansas with slight chances
of snow across south central Kansas.

Tuesday will feel much warmer then on Monday for western Kansas.
Afternoon highs will reach the mid 30s to mid 40s over much of the
state with highs closer to near 50 over southeast Kansas. Sunshine
will be more prevalent over most of the state while it will be
partly cloudy over parts of extreme eastern Kansas.
