...Patchy freezing rain or freezing drizzle possible along the
ridges into this evening...

Steady rain will slowly taper off from southwest to northeast this
evening. However pockets of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will
result in continued glazing of trees and elevated surfaces
especially across the higher elevations above 3000 feet along the
Blue Ridge into this evening. Motorists should also be alert if
planning to travel across the higher elevations through this
evening as spotty icing could occur on bridges along the higher
peaks. This would include locations from around Hot Springs south
to the Peaks of Otter, to Poor Mountain, to along the Blue Ridge
Parkway into North Carolina. Dense fog may also occur as the rain
tapers off with visibility likely lowering after sunset if not
sooner.
