Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service Wichita KS
434 AM CDT Sat Apr 13 2024

A warmer overnight period occurred compared to 24 hours ago with
temperatures only dropping to the mid 40s to the upper 50s across
the Sunflower State. Southeast to southwest winds had speeds of 5
to 15 mph. Other than some high clouds in the western portions of
the state, most were under clear skies.

There is a low pressure system that will track through the Central
Plains today. Gusty southerly winds are anticipated with sustained
speeds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts near 40 mph for all but Nebraska
and eastern Colorado which will have south to northwest winds at
5 to 15 mph. A slight chance for showers is forecast with this
system in Nebraska and northern Kansas; most locations should stay
dry. Fire weather concerns exist in southeast Colorado and
southwest into north central Kansas primarily through the
afternoon given the stronger winds during this period. High
temperatures are expected to climb into the 80s. Some clouds are
anticipated for northern Kansas and Nebraska.

Winds will gradually subside as the low pushes off and the wind
direction will shift to the northwest behind the system. Eastern
portions of the Central Plains should stay breezy through the
overnight period with wind speeds at 15 to 20 mph. Slight chances
for showers remain in northern Kansas into the early evening.
The range of low temperatures tonight will be 20 degrees with the
lower values in the lower 40s in eastern Colorado and western
Nebraska compared to the higher values of the lower 60s in
Oklahoma. Clear skies are expected.
