THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL...SOUTH
CENTRAL...SOUTHWEST AND WEST CENTRAL KANSAS.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

DISCUSSION...SEVERAL BOUTS OF THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IS POSSIBLE IN
THIS PERIOD. THE FIRST IS ACROSS WESTERN TO WEST CENTRAL KANSAS
SATURDAY EVENING...ROUGHLY JOHNSON CITY TO HAYS. LATE AFTERNOON
AND EVENING THUNDERSTORMS COULD DEVELOP IN THIS AREA. THE MAIN
THREAT IS DOWNBURSTS OF 50 TO 60 MPH AND HAIL UP TO THE SIZE OF
QUARTERS. THE NEXT CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS IS SUNDAY EVENING,
MAINLY ACROSS BARBER COUNTY. IF A STORM DOES DEVELOP IN THE
EVENING, IT COULD BECOME RAPIDLY SEVERE. THE MAIN THREATS IF A
STORM DOES DEVELOP WOULD BE HAIL UP TO THE SIZE OF BASEBALLS AND
WINDS OF 60 TO 70 MPH. THERE IS A SMALL WINDOW OF HIGHER TORNADO
POTENTIAL IN THE EVENING AS LOW LEVEL WIND SHEAR INCREASES. THIS,
OF COURSE, IS DEPENDENT ON IF A STORM EXISTS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
LASTLY, TUESDAY STILL LOOKS LIKE AN ACTIVE SEVERE WEATHER DAY. THE
MOST UNSTABLE AIR MAY END UP JUST TO THE EAST AND NORTH OF THE
FORECAST DISTRICT. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT LOCKED IN AND THE REGION
STILL COULD SEE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. REGARDLESS, ENVIRONMENT
CONDITIONS SUPPORT HAIL UP TO SOFTBALL SIZE AND THE POTENTIAL FOR
SIGNIFICANT TORNADOES. PEOPLE ACROSS THE ENTIRE STATE OF KANSAS
SHOULD KEEP UPDATED TO FUTURE FORECASTS AS WE FINE TUNE THE SMALL
STORM SCALE DETAILS.

NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO REVIEW YOUR FAMILY AND WORKPLACE STORM
SAFETY PLANS IN PREPARATION FOR THE POSSIBLE SEVERE WEATHER
ACTIVITY NEXT WEEK.
