...Brief Period of Light Freezing Rain Early this Morning...

An area of showers will move across the southern Appalachians
early this morning. Brisk northerly winds behind a cold front is
ushering in colder temperatures into the region. Temperatures
across the Plateau and parts of southwest Virginia have fallen at
or below freezing. A brief period of light freezing rain will
occur across the Plateau and parts of mainly the higher elevations
of southwest Virginia through mid-morning.

The light freezing rain may produce icy conditions across mainly
elevated surfaces. When traveling early this morning be alert to
the potential of slick roadways, especially across bridges and
