990 FXUS65 KVEF 300538 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 1037 PM PDT Sun Jun 29 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... * Temperatures will peak on Monday and Tuesday as the gradual warming trend continues into next week. * Increasing moisture will bring a slight chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms to Mohave County beginning Tuesday. && .DISCUSSION...through the end of the week. Temperatures will continue to warm a few degrees each day as we head into next week, peaking around 3 to 7 degrees above normal on Monday and Tuesday. The Colorado River Valley and portions of southern Mohave County will see HeatRisk increase to Major (Level 3 of 4), with Moderate HeatRisk (Level 2 of 4) across the rest of the area. Due to the isolated and short lived nature of the Major HeatRisk, we will not be issuing any Extreme Heat Headlines. Beyond Tuesday temperatures will gradually decrease as low pressure pushes into southeastern California, southern Nevada, and northwestern Arizona. By mid-week temperatures will have cooled back down to near normal with slightly below normal temperatures possible late in the week. Moisture will begin to creep up the Colorado River Valley tomorrow as we find ourselves sandwiched between the Four Corners High to the east and a low pressure system to our west. This will result in southeasterly flow aloft across the eastern portion of our forecast area, allowing for moisture advection into the Colorado River Valley, northwestern Arizona, and the far eastern Mojave Desert. Beginning on Tuesday, Mohave County will see slight chances for showers and thunderstorms each afternoon through at least Thursday. The higher terrain of Clark and Lincoln counties will have a lesser, but not zero, chance of seeing afternoon showers and thunderstorms develop beginning around mid-week. The primary threats will be dry lightning potential on Monday and Tuesday, followed by more typical summer like downpours and gusty winds midweek onward. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 06Z Forecast Package...southwesterly wind at or below 8kt will become light and variable by 15Z and last through the morning until gusty south to southwesterly winds return during the afternoon hours. Gusts to 20kt are forecast. Winds will become light from the southwest after sunset. Temperatures will be over 100 degrees between 19Z and 04Z on Monday. Skies will be mostly clear through the TAF period. For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast California...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Mainly light wind and clear skies through the morning hours at most TAF sites. KDAG will remain westerly at around 10kt. Gusty southerly to southwesterly winds increase Monday afternoon across most of the forecast area. Isolated convection is possible along high terrain in Mohave County in the afternoon, but otherwise skies will be mostly clear. && .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating procedures. && $$ DISCUSSION...Stessman AVIATION...Berc For more forecast information...see us on our webpage: https://weather.gov/lasvegas or follow us on Facebook and Twitter
