...NWS damage survey information for Becker..northern Wadena and
southern Hubbard counties for August 3-4 2016...

A survey of storm damage from the August 3-4, 2016 event was
conducted from central Becker into southern Hubbard and northern
Wadena counties in central Minnesota.

Three distinct areas of damage were noted during the survey:

The first was a farmstead approximately six miles north-northeast
of Detroit Lakes in Becker county. An empty grain bin was
collapsed and separated from its foundation. A semi-tractor unit
was also rolled over approximately three times.

The second area was in southern Becker county along and near
Minnesota state route 87 between Midway and Menahga. The damage
consisted of individual trees that were either snapped above the
ground or uprooted.

The third area of greater areal extent was from Menahga into the
Huntersville State Forecast in southern Hubbard and northern
Wadena counties. Numerous poplar and Norway pine trees, along with
several power poles, were either snapped at the approximate height
of five to 40 feet above the ground, or uprooted. The diameter of
the trees ranged from two to three feet. The Huntersville and Duck
Lake locations received the largest amount of damage.

The nature of the damage is consistent with a straight-line wind
event and indications place the wind speed in the 95 to 105 mph
range.
